What we do

A full workshop, one steady hand.

Most shops make you assemble a team. We handle the whole chain — strategy, build, data, and the day-to-day systems — so the parts actually fit together.

Business & IT Consulting

Untangle the tools, workflows, and decisions that slow you down. Practical roadmaps, not slide decks.

Website Design

Fast, clean sites that look like you and work everywhere — built to be maintained, not rebuilt every year.

App Development

Web and internal apps that fit how you actually operate. From first sketch to a tool your crew relies on daily.

Analytics

Turn scattered numbers into answers. We find the signal, define the metrics, and make them trustworthy.

Dashboards & Reporting

Live views of the numbers that matter — so you can see the whole operation at a glance and act early.

Database Management

Clean, well-modeled data with backups you can trust. The quiet foundation everything else stands on.

Drone Services

Aerial photos, video, and site mapping. Progress shots, roof and property inspections, and marketing footage that shows the whole picture — from above.

SEO

Get found when people search. On-page and local SEO with clean analytics, so the right customers land on your site — not just more traffic.

Social Media

Development & management — profiles set up right, a simple content plan, and steady posting that sounds like you, so your feed keeps working while you're on the job.

Our roots

It started as a funny farm.

Blackwell Mountain began as a sustainable homestead — a working patch of the Shenandoah Valley where the goal was simple: do more with less, waste nothing, and build things that hold up through the seasons.

That mindset turned out to be a philosophy of engineering. A good homestead is a well-run system: resilient, low-maintenance, and honest about trade-offs. So is good software. We bring the same instincts — self-reliance, craftsmanship, and a long view — to every system we build for a client.

  • Self-reliant — we hand you tools you can actually run, not a dependency on us.
  • Durable — built to last seasons, not sprints. Maintainable by design.
  • No waste — right-sized solutions. We don't sell you a barn for a toolshed.

How we work

Plainspoken, hands-on, built to hand off.

  1. 01

    Walk the land

We learn how your business actually runs before proposing anything. No jargon, no assumptions.

  2. 02

    Right-size the build

A clear plan scoped to what you need now — with room to grow — and an honest estimate.

  3. 03

    Build in the open

You see progress early and often. Small, working increments beat a big reveal every time.

  4. 04

    Hand you the keys

Documented, maintainable, yours. We stay for support when you want it — never because you're stuck.

Selected work

A few things I've built.

Web app · Construction

Construction job & estimating platform

A full lifecycle system for a post-frame & concrete contractor: costed assemblies build into estimates and takeoffs, then flow straight into live job budgets, change orders, scheduling, and invoicing — with role-based access for the office, PMs, and the field, plus a bid board that surfaces new work.

Website · Construction

Contractor marketing site

A clean, fast website for a metal-building & concrete contractor: services, a project gallery, and a request-an-estimate form that drops inquiries straight into their inbox — built to be easy to keep up to date.

On-demand water-shuttle marketplace

A boat-shuttle app connecting lake visitors with licensed captains through booking, dispatch, and a captain onboarding flow. A ground-up product build — from the idea to the software that runs it.

Web app · Nonprofit

Pet food pantry tracker

Inventory and distribution for a pet food pantry — donations in, food out, and the families and animals served, all in one place. Volunteers always know what's on the shelf, and the reporting writes itself.

Who's behind it

Led by one builder, backed by a bench.

Blackwell Mountain is led by Rob Blackwell — equal parts homesteader and software builder. The farm taught the discipline; the code pays it forward. You work directly with Rob from first call to hand-off — no account managers, no handoff chain to strangers.

When a project needs more hands or a specialist skill, Rob pulls in a trusted network of collaborators he's worked with for years. You get the accountability of a single point of contact with the range of a larger shop — technology that feels less like a vendor and more like a capable neighbor who happens to be very good with data.
